Places
DU’s places foster creativity and innovation, define the distinctive DU student experience, support new and unprecedented discoveries, and improve the well-being of people both on our campus and far beyond it.
With a unique two-campus experience that gives students the best of urban experiential learning and the wide-open spaces of nature to learn and explore, DU’s places are central to our student’s educational journey. The Denver Difference will broaden those horizons even further, creating new spaces for research excellence, innovation, athletic distinction and more.
STEM Horizons
With philanthropic support, a new STEM Horizons facility can amplify the interdisciplinary nature of modern STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education through partnerships a and collaborations, increase research and capabilities by expanding our life and health science laboratory space by nearly 25%, offer collaborative and interactive common spaces, and provide state-of-the-art teaching labs.
Athletics Facilities
For nearly 160 years, DU has been Denver’s home for college sports, holding a tradition of excellence that transcends both elite athletic performance and academic prowess at a level few can match. Across eighteen sports, DU Athletics is a powerhouse Division I program that consistently contends with some of the largest, most well-funded programs nationwide. We have done this all while paving the way for women’s collegiate sports across the country.
Creating the future of DU Athletics will involve upgrades to the Ritchie Center, which will make a difference for all 18 sports and more than 380 student-athletes, scholarships for our student-athletes and endowed investments in DU Athletics.
Your generosity will directly impact their lives and their preparation for careers after DU.
Innovation Hub
Central to DU’s strategic future, the proposed construction of the Innovation Hub will serve as a home for two important areas at DU — the Center for Innovation in the Liberal and Creative Arts and the Department of Media, Film and Journalism Studies. It will provide space for ingenuity across theatre, studio art, emergent digital practices, music and entrepreneurship. It will also feature student-led and community-engaged programming spaces.
The design for this bright, open and dynamic building is intentionally conceived to help foster relationships and ideas. Multiple spaces will provide opportunities for public art exhibits and events, significantly furthering DU’s ability to offer community-engaged programming across disciplines, generations and locales.
Kennedy Mountain Campus
In the awe-inspiring backdrop of the Rocky Mountains, DU students find an inspiring place to reconnect with themselves, make new lifelong connections with their peers, and engage in activities that will build skills they can draw upon for a lifetime. DU is the only university to integrate both a city and a mountain campus, offering the opportunity for every student to grow in multiple dimensions, for themselves and for the greater good. At the KMC, courses, programs and experiences are designed to spark creativity and growth within the great outdoors while advancing the 4D Experience for our students.
Denver Advantage
The Denver Advantage was a visionary campus framework plan and multiphase construction effort designed to fuel the collaborative relationships proven to help students succeed academically and throughout their lives. It grew out of our strategic plan and our commitment to educate students holistically and prepare them to lead diverse organizations and communities.
The Dimond Family Residential Village creates a strong sense of belonging and community for our first-year students, the Burwell Center for Career Achievement provides all students access to career counseling and resources while offering alumni a welcoming space to return to campus, and the Community Commons is the new heart of campus that unites student services and support.
