Volunteer Spotlight: Imran Choudhry

Imran Choudhry’s (BS ’02) commitment as a DU volunteer stems from his interest in helping students succeed, build meaningful networks, and launch their careers, just as he experienced as a DU student. As a regular in the Mentor for a Moment: Healthcare Edition program at DU, he has guided countless students in exploring career paths, particularly in healthcare.

An orthopedic hand surgeon, Choudhry brings deep professional expertise to his mentorship while remaining approachable and available to students. They regularly praise how easy he is to talk to, and how valued they feel in his presence, making him a trusted resource during many phases of their education.

Choudhry has been a tremendous DU ambassador, often serving as an orientation speaker, offering candid insights and heartfelt advice to new students. In spring 2025, he represented the university as an alum ambassador at two admitted student events to begin connecting students to professional networks.

“Imran stands out for his genuine dedication, generosity, and openness,” his nominator shares. “He consistently gives his time, shares his expertise, and shows up whenever students or staff need him. His reliability, enthusiasm, and genuine commitment to helping students have made a clear and positive impact across campus.”

Reflecting on his diverse service over the years, Choudhry says, “DU is a special place, and there is no better feeling than playing a pivotal role for a student to be inspired to achieve their goals through mentorship and guidance.”

Beyond volunteerism, Choudhry serves on the board for Orthopedic Centers of Colorado and was a consulting physician for the Colorado Avalanche for several years. He enjoys spending time outdoors with his family.
